The stone bridge of Kompsatos lies just one kilometre upstream from where the river enters the Rhodope plain, near the modern railway bridge. Today, visitors can reach it via a 350-meter path that begins at the old road bridge on the provincial Komotini–Amaxades road, where a parking area is also available. The bridge dates back to the 17th - 18th century and is considered the work of continental masons. It was three-arched with two piers and two abutments and direction from West to East. Today, the middle and eastern arc and the eastern abutment are preserved. The central arch, slightly elevated, is the largest, with a span of 21.80 meters and a height of 12 meters. The eastern arch follows, with a span of 17 meters. On the two central terraces there are relief openings with flat bases and vaulted roofs. There was probably an older bridge in the same place, given that the Egnatia road, which was built after 146 BC, passes through the site. The Kompsatos River originates in the mountainous region of Rhodope, primarily within the Xanthi prefecture. It crosses the Thracian plain for approximately 12 kilometres before emptying into Lake Vistonida. Several sites of both pre-Christian and Christian antiquity have been identified in the surrounding area, most notably the Byzantine castle of Polyanthos and a three-aisled early Christian basilica located between the village of Polyanthos and the bridge. The bridge is easily accessible to visitors, though it cannot be crossed. In contrast, the archaeological findings of Polyanthos are not open to the public. However, just 3 km west of Kompsatos and the stone bridge lies the historic settlement of Iasmos, where visitors can enjoy excellent restaurants, traditional taverns, and pastry shops. The stone bridge of Kompsatos, depicted in a drawing, serves as the emblem of the Municipality of Iasmos.
