The Komotini Recreation Park, also known as the Nymph's Grove, is located 3 km north of Komotini and has an area of about 4,500 stremmas. It is a cultivated pine forest created by trees planted in the 1930s. The pine forest is the green lung of Komotini and is ideal for a variety of activities for children and adults. The grove has landscaped areas with gazebos, tables, benches, paved paths, fountains, basketball, volleyball, tennis courts, car parks and hiking trails. The paved road that crosses the park leads to the historic Nymphaia Fort on the Metaxa line, as well as to the kiosk of Nymphaia (refreshment bar and restaurant) where visitors can enjoy their favourite drink or meal while admiring the amphitheatrical view of the Rhodope plain, stretching as far as Vistonida lake and the Thracian Sea.
