DramWine Tasting
Since its inception in 2014, the ambitious annual event known as 'DramWine Tasting' has been organized by the Region of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace, through the Regional Unit of Drama, with a strong focus on wine. The goal of this event is to establish the region as a 'Wine and Taste Culture Centre,' showcasing its rich cultural heritage of flavours and traditions, as well as its prominence as a hub for nationally recognized wine and food businesses.
During the last week of May, the Regional Unit of Drama comes alive with festivities. Wineries open their doors to the public, offering a variety of events, including festivals, concerts, hands-on tasting workshops, and informative scientific seminars. These workshops are conducted in collaboration with the local University Department of Agricultural Biotechnology and Oenology, aiming to bridge the gap between production, education, and science.
A large team of volunteers plays a vital role in the event, comprising oenology students, local cultural associations, professional organizations, and municipalities. However, the true highlight is the wine producers themselves, who generously share their quality wines with visitors.
The DramWine Tasting event aims to elevate the prestige of Drama's products and position the region as a premier destination for gastronomy and tourism.
The vision is to enhance recognition, boost competitiveness, attract visitors, create jobs, and promote entrepreneurship, investment, and profitability for all stakeholders in the region.
Efforts are concentrated on establishing a unique and distinct identity for Drama's products, ensuring their promotion through consistent and organized marketing across various communication channels. 'DramWine Tasting' is more than just a celebration; it’s a comprehensive initiative to spotlight the often-overlooked Drama, with wine and its flavours as the main ambassadors. This effort seeks to support local primary production, wine-related businesses, and the catering and hospitality sectors in addressing modern challenges.
