Thassos is known for its charming and hospitable traditional settlements, with Mikro and Megalo Kazaviti, also called Mikros and Megalos Prinos, being the oldest and arguably the most beautiful. These settlements are located 20 km from Limenas and 4 km from Prinos, with just 1 km separating them. The name Kazaviti originates from the Latin words 'casa' (house) and 'vitus' (wine), meaning 'the house of wine.' Mikro Kazaviti is surrounded by a lush forest of plane, beech, and cypress trees. Visitors can explore its cobbled streets, admire picturesque stone houses with wooden balconies, and visit the Church of Saint George. The village also features a theatre that hosts summer festivals known as 'Kazavitiana'. In Megalo Kazaviti, the traditional architecture continues to shine, with a classic village square shaded by century-old plane trees. Visitors can enjoy the local cafes, famous for their delicious meat dishes, and stroll through streets leading to the churches of the Twelve Apostles and Zoodochos Pigi. The surrounding nature is enchanting, with dense forests and cultivated land. Just outside the village, you can find the chapel of Saint Ioannis and the Monastery of Saint Panteleimon, built in 1834.
