Thermal Baths
A haven for wellness and relaxation, the Samothrace Thermal Baths are located east of Paleopolis, just 13 km from the port of Kamariotissa and close to the settlement of Therma, named after the springs. These baths are supplied by a sulphuric spring with temperatures reaching up to 60°C.
The Municipal Hydrotherapy centre of the Samothrace Thermal Baths attracts thousands of visitors annually. The history of these springs dates back to Byzantine times, when they were already renowned for their healing properties. Modern facilities, built in 1981, include individual and group baths, two swimming pools (separate for men and women), and thirteen private baths. Previously, there was only a single bath with a roof made of branches.
The spring water, clear and slightly salty with a strong sulphuric odour, maintains a temperature between 38°C and 39°C. The water contains hydrogen sulphide chloride and essential minerals such as sodium, calcium, magnesium, chlorine, and potassium. It is highly recommended for treating conditions like rheumatoid arthritis, arthrosis, skin disorders, gynaecological issues, and bone diseases. Additionally, it offers alternative therapeutic benefits for a wide range of other conditions.
