Haidou Forest, located in the Rhodope mountain range along the border with Bulgaria, is a true natural paradise. It is renowned for its ancient beech trees, which tower over 30 meters in height. In addition to the beech trees, the forest is home to a variety of other trees, including pine, fir, and spruce, as well as the yellow lily, a unique plant native to the Rhodope mountains. This forest serves as a refuge for wildlife, including bears, wolves, and deer. Since the 1980s, 180 str. of Haidou Forest have been designated as a 'Monument of Nature', protecting it as a natural reserve. The forest boasts several endemic plant species unique to the Rhodope region, along with rare flora, mammals, and birds. Its landscape features open meadows, rugged mountain slopes, and numerous streams and small rivers with icy waters, creating ideal habitats for trout.
