Palataki Limenaria
The majestic 'Palataki' stands on a rocky promontory at the edge of the harbour of Limenaria. It is a two-storey rectangular building with 2 turrets on its narrow sides. It is an example of eclectic architecture, characterised by strict symmetry and influences from Central European trends. It was built in 1903-4 as the administrative building of the German company 'Speidel', which exploited the mines of Thassos at that time. Its use ended in 1963, with the abandonment of the industrial installations.
