Concert Hall

Description

The Komotini Conference and Cultural Centre, also known as the Komotini Music Hall, is a distinctive and significant building constructed between 2007 and 2010. It was designed to serve as a cultural beacon for Northeastern Greece and the Southeastern Balkan Peninsula. It is situated on the northern outskirts of Komotini, adjacent to the military installations in the Agia Varvara area. The project’s original design was created by renowned architect Nikos Valsamakis, resulting in the construction of the main building, which features a single performance hall with a capacity of 705 spectators. However, it has excellent acoustics and the third largest stage in Greece. The building was handed over for use in 2010 and was initially managed by the Rhodope Development Corporation. Since 2018, it has been operated by the Region of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace, which also owns the facility. The Concert Hall has hosted high-quality productions featuring world-renowned artists, including operas, ballets, operettas, recitals, concerts, theatre performances, film screenings and art exhibitions. It has also provided a platform for many local cultural organisations to showcase their work. It has also hosted major conferences, scientific workshops and tributes to renowned artists. From 2025 the Hall will be operated by the Public Limited Company of the Region "CULTURAL CENTER OF EASTERN MACEDONIA AND THRACE" (STEGI POLITISMOU).
